Solar Energy Support
Solar Energy Component or Solar energy Support Programme (SSP) is one of component of ESAP that basically support dissemination of solar photovoltaic systems. SSP coordinates national level solar sector activities in AEPC/ESAP and has been the largely successful components towards meeting its objectives.

SSP is supported by Government of Nepal (GON), the Government of Denmark, the Government of Norway and Government of Germany (KfW).

SSP primarily envisages supporting the promotion of Solar Home System (SHS) with emphasis on quality and availability of credit as a mean for rural electrification which has proven to be only feasible way to provide electricity in many rural areas of Nepal. In addition, it also promotes Small Solar Home System (SSHS) (Solar Tuki,) as an immediate and intermediate way to provide electricity specifically for the poorer rural population.

SSP works towards building a commercially viable and sustainable solar photovoltaic industry in Nepal that can deliver Solar Home System and Small Solar Home System technology to the needy population with quality and reasonable price.
