Solar Home Systems (SHS)

Solar Home System is the household electricity supply system with Solar Photo Voltaic Panel of capacity 10 Wp or more and bundled with battery, battery charge controller, and appropriate number of lights.

Small Solar Home Systems (SSHS)

Small Solar Home System is the household electricity supply system with Solar Photo Voltaic panel of capacity of 5Wp to 10 Wp and bundled with battery, battery charge controlling mechanism and appropriate number of lights.

Solar Energy Support Programme (SSP) is responsible for matters related to implementation activities such as promotion, dissemination, quality assurance and monitoring of solar energy systems. SSP will provide technical assistance to SHS manufacturers, distributors, and household users of Solar Home Systems (SHS) and Small Solar Home Systems (SSHS) and assist REF in disbursement of subsidy on technical matters. Since the end-users of SHS and SSHS are peoples in rural areas, SSP will play role in assisting to promote it through competitive market.

Institutional Solar PV Systems (ISPS)

Institutional Solar System is stand alone system of solar photovoltaic to be used institutionally for the purpose of lighting, education, communication, health etc.

We provide technical support as well as subsidy for PV Systems used by public institutions such as for operating computers in remote schools, vaccine refrigerators in remote health posts, FM radio equipments in remote and remote tele-centers and providing lighting to the monasteries, temples, churches, Mosque and other religious places in the remote areas without electrification by any other means.

Solar PV Water Pump System (PVPS)

Solar Photo Voltaic Pump System is energy system based on solar photovoltaic to be used for pumping drinking water and drip irrigation.

In order to encourage solar PV use in the areas where rural electrification has not been done, Solar Water Pump will be useful for drinking water and other activities such as small irrigation. Therefore, to promote productive use of solar PV, we provide necessary technical support as well as subsidy to such schemes.

We are responsible for matters related to implementation activities such as promotion, dissemination, and quality assurance and monitoring of ISPS and PVPS. We provide technical assistance to ISPS and PVPS manufactures and provide subsidy to users through qualified companies. We qualify companies for manufacturing, distribution, installation, and after sales service of ISPS and PVPS periodically. We also ensure that the users get quality product at reasonable price through competitive market. For this, it will monitor the field installation and conduct surveys, studies etc.
