ADB RERL funded by UNDP and ADB is to help improve rural livelihood by providing access to clean energy in remote off-grid areas. The project directly contributes to SDG7 and SDG13 by ensuring access to affordable, reliable sustainable and modern energy for all through the development of mini hydro and solar mini grid projects in remote off-grid areas not being currently served by the national electricity grid. Likewise, the project also contributes to increase the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix. In the same context, the project aims to contribute to other SDGs with energy as the entry point. The promotion of productive energy uses of electricity generated has direct linkages with SDG1, SDG8 and SDG12 while the gender component of the project contributes to SDG5.
