OutCome & Impact

Impact and Outcome
The ultimate purpose of SASEC project is to increase electricity access and enhance renewable energy based rural enterprises development in selected rural communities of Nepal by installing 4.3 MW of mini hydro-electric power plants and 0.5MW of mini-grid based solar or solar/wind hybrid systems.
The project impact, Outcome and outputs are as below;
Impact will be increased electricity access in Nepal, which will be in align with GoN target to increase the per capita electricity consumption to 400 kWh per year from 102 kWh.
Outcome will be enhanced renewable energy development in the off grid areas of Nepal.
Output will include installation of up to total 4.3 MW of mini hydro-electric power plants and up to total 0.5 MW of mini-grid based solar or solar/wind hybrid systems, in selected rural communities. Similarly, project management support, preparation support for distribution system/rural electrification master plan and feasibility study of utility level wind farm, and parallel livelihood development activities in the project area will be done as part of capacity development of the programme for AEPC.
Further, the project intends to address issues of Social and Environment Safeguards and GESI through the provision of energy related skills training, management support, employment and livelihood opportunities in the sub project areas.
