    This document provides the summary of the main activities, approach and results of the GIZ’s Promotion of Solar Technologies for Economic Development (POSTED) project. The technical assistance project was active from 2022 to 2024 and worked in three key areas (i) policy and regulation, (ii) training and capacity development, and (iii) digital monitoring, in Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. The technology focus of the project was on solar water pumping systems, solar mini-grids and solar rooftop systems.

    This working paper describes the results of a comprehensive survey conducted on solar water pump users and local enterprises in the mid-west and eastern regions of Nepal. The survey captures the perceptions of the users, operation & maintenance issues, and the user’s willingness to participate in local service networks. The study provides recommendations on how local service networks for solar water pumps can be established for the sustainability of the systems.
